Transmasculine or trans-masc is a gender identity where one was assigned female at birth, but identifies mostly as a man or another masculine gender(s). For example feeling mostly masculine and partially feminine is still an example of trans-masculinity. Trans masculine people are sometimes called FtM or F2M (female to male).
This may include
- Binary trans men
- Demiboys
- Genderfluid people who identify as male more often then a female, this is otherwise called genderfaun or genderfaunet
- Solarians
- Any non-binary person who is male aligned, and leans towards masculinity.
Transmasculine is sometimes used, not as a gender identity, but as a way to describe anyone who is assigned female at birth and undergoes masculinization, either through surgery, hormones replacement therapy, or other methods. Under this definition women who take testosterone to attempt to appear more masculine would be considered transmasculine.
The feminine equivalent to transmasculine is transfeminine and the neutral equivalent is transneutral.
