Someone who identifies as philandrous feels fondness, love, or admiration towards men. It's not attraction to men, it is a feeling of admiration or fondness towards all of manhood, not necessarily being attracted to men themselves. Simply respecting men is not being philandrous. Being philandrous means you have a certain feeling of love and likeness towards the general idea of men, without necessarily being attracted to them in any way.
