Gonadal Sofrimento

Gonadal Sofrimento is an umbrella term used to describe an individual who feels disconnect, dysphoria, and/or dysmorphia towards their gonads (testicles, ovaries, ovotestes). This could be due to one's gender identity, one's altersex identity, one's intersex body, trauma, neurodivergence, or anything else.

One who has gonadal sofrimento may also experience NCST sofrimento, chest sofrimento, and/or genital sofrimento. Gonadal sofrimento can be experienced by anyone, regardless of whether they are cisgender, transgender, non-binary, anonbinary, etc.

One with this may experience gonadal euphoria as well.

Gonadal Dysphoria

Gonadal Dysphoria is a feeling of discomfort, distress, or self hatred stemming from a disconnect between one's internal desire of gonadals and one's actual gonadals, due to the fact that one feels as though their gonadals do not correctly represent their gender identity.

An example of this would be an interboy with ovotestes who desires testicles, and feels as though their ovotestes misrepresents their own personal sense of gender. This means that their ovotestes causes gender dysphoria, and thus also classifies as gonadal dysphoria.

Gonadal Dysmorphia

Gonadal Dysmorphia is a feeling of discomfort, distress, or self hatred towards one's gonadals, that causes or comes from a desire for a different type of gonadal (or no gonads at all).

The difference between this and gonadal dysphoria, is that gonadal dysmorphia isn't related to one's gender identity, while gonadal dysphoria is. For example, one may be an AFAB cisgender woman, but feel dysmorphic towards their ovaries, and desire another type of gonad instead. This has nothing to do with their gender, as sex and gender aren't always connected or related to some people.

History

Gonadal sofrimento, gonadal dysphoria, and gonadal dysmorphia were all coined by Cryptocrew, specifically Ruthie, on May 9, 2021.

Etymology

This term was named after the word Sofrimento, which is Portugese for discomfort or suffering.
