Epigender is a gender (or lack thereof) that is above the gender spectrum. Those who identify as epigender may feel completely detached from the gender spectrum, and may feel non-human as well. Epigender may be considered an identity of beings that are transcendent, or above/superior to humans, such as seraphim, cherubim, incubi, succubi, etc.
Etymology
The term "epigender" comes from the Greek prefix "epi-," which means "over" or "above."
History
The term was coined by Tumblr user gender-plaza (now old-gender-plaza) on November 22, 2020.[1]
