Boygender is a gender for those who identify with the term "boy", but reject manhood and/or feel disconnect from the term "man". It opposes toxic masculinity and embraces innocence, soft masculinity and nonbinary masculinity (as well as femininity).
History
The term was coined by the tumblr user genderiswhaaat on November 11th, 2019[1].
Flags
The original boygender flag was created by tumblr user genderwhaat in the same post in which the term was coined[1]. It's stripes meanings are the following:
- purple blue - feminine boys
- both pale blues - younger version of masculinity
- green - neutral feeling of boyhood
- yellow - nonbinary boys
Another boygender flag was created by Twitter user TurtRose on July 27th, 2021[2]. It's stripes meanings are:
- pink - femininity
- white - androgynity
- cyan - masculinity
- bluish green - rejection of manhood
- grass green - softness
- dark green - rejection of gender binaries
