Varioriented aroace (shortened to variaroace) refers to someone who is aro-spec and/or ace-spec, but is not strictly aromantic and asexual. Varioriented refers to someone who's sexual and romantic orientation do not match. Typically aroace people are perioriented, however some people may be aro-spec and ace-spec and not have there orientations match. For example, someone could be demibiromantic and asexual, or someone may be frayromantic greyasexual. All of these people can be consider aroace but they are not perioriented. Non-SAM people can also use the term.

The term variorented aroace was coined by Tumblr user Varioriented-pride on April 10, 2019[1]. The flag was created in the same post. The blue stripe comes from the oriented aroace flag, used to represent shared aroace-ness. Grey represents the grey area in romantic and asexual orientations. Light yellow comes from the aromantic allosexual flag. Red comes from the alloromantic asexual flag.
