Variflux is an identity where uncertainty due to fluctuations have become an important part of someone's sense of self. It was created for individuals who have multiple fluctuating identities. The identities can be gender, sexual orientation, romantic orientation, or otherwise, including but not limited to:
- Aceflux/aroflux
- Genderflux/boyflux/girlflux
- Homoflux/Straightflux
- Polymonoflux
Someone who is variflux may feel as though their identity is unstable due to their multiple fluctuating orientations. They consider this uncertainty and confusion to be an important part of who they are. This label can only be used for fluctuating identities, not for fluid identities such as genderfluid.
Flag
Variflux was coined by Discord user Carpiem on November 8, 2020, who later put the term on sheir Instagram on November 9, 2020.[1] The flag was also created by shem. The red stripe represents high intensity in fluctuation. White represents calmness and neutrality. Yellow represents uncertainty. Black represents chaos and confusion. Green represents low intensity in fluctuation. The purple circle represents fluctuation. There is an alternate flag with the same meanings, but without the purple circle.
