Utrinquegender is a gender modality that describes someone who experiences aspects of both trans and cis experiences. This is due not to being a closeted trans person, but is a result of their identity. Examples of people who may identity as utrinquegender include:

    • Female-aligned alters in DID/OSDD systems where the host body is AFAB, but has medically transitioned to male.
    • Male-aligned alters in DID/OSDD systems where the host body is AMAB, but has medically transitioned to female.
    • Individuals that have hormonal conditions that cause them to produce too much of the “wrong” sex hormone, causing them to develop secondary sex characteristics of the "wrong" sex.
    The utrinquegender flag.

Utrinquegender is exclusive to people with these situations.

    History

Utrinquegender was coined by Tumblr user married-to-the-night on February 14, 2018.[1] She coined the term as she is a feminine-aligned alter in a dissociative identity disorder system, and the host's body is AFAB. However, other alters or the host are transmasculine and begin transitioning and eventually have a male-passing body. When she alter fronts she deals with dysphoria, presents femininely, and has to deal with fear regarding things such as how to refer to herself, which restroom to use, and what gender they pass as. So despite being a woman in an AFAB body they still experience things similar to the experience of a trans woman.

Utrinque means “both sides”, in line with cis (“on this side”) and trans (“across”).

The utrinquegender flag was designed by beyond-mogai-pride-flags on February 21, 2018.[2]
