Utaugender is a technogender in which an individual feels that their gender is connected to the voice synthesis program, UTAU. It can also be related to songs that feature UTAU vocals, UTAU voicebanks, or UTAU producers. It may be considered a subcategory of audiogender.

Subsets

Demiutaugender

Demiutaugender is a subset of utaugender, in which the person feels only partially connected to the program. It is a non-gendered counterpart to utaumasc and utaufem.

Utaumasc

Utaumasc is a subset of utaugender, in which the person feels demiutaugender but also masculine. This may also include feeling connected to male voicebanks, or feeling connected to UTAUloid in a masculine way.

Utaufem

Utaufem is a subset of utaugender, in which the person feels demiutaugender but also feminine. This may also include feeling connected to female voicebanks, or feeling connected to UTAUloid in a feminine way.

History and Flags

Utaugender was coined by Discord user ghxstkisser, 1st June 2021; uta created the utaugender, demiutaugender, utaumasc and utaufem flags on the same date.

The purple and whites of the utaugender flag are taken from the UTAU logo. Purple signifies connection to songs, music, and the software UTAU. White signifies electricity, a blank space for music to be created. Blue signifies connection to technology as a whole.
