m (Updated the definition because being transmasc should be more to do with identifying as trans+masculine genders overall, rather than depend on what gender someone was assigned at birth.) |

Transmasculine is sometimes used, not as a gender identity, but as a way to describe anyone who is assigned female at birth and undergoes masculinization, either through surgery, hormones replacement therapy, or other methods. Under this definition women who take testosterone to attempt to appear more masculine would be considered transmasculine. |

Transmasculine or trans-masc is a gender identity where one generally was assigned female at birth (AFAB), is transgender, and identifies fully or partially as any masculine genders. Transmasculine people can also identify as other, non-masculine genders as well. For example, an androgyne person may identify as transmasculine, though typically one's masculine identities are more significant that one's non-masculine identities. Whether or not someone sees their gender as masculine is for them to decide, and Tranmasculine people are sometimes called FtM or F2M (female to male), however, this isn't accurate as many transmasculine people are not transgender men and vice versa.
Some transmasculine identities can include:
- Binary and non-binary non-cisgender men
- Demiboys
- Genderfluid people who identify as masculine more often than other genders
- Solarians
- Any other non-binary person who is masculine-aligned, or leans towards masculinity
The feminine equivalent to transmasculine is transfeminine and the neutral equivalent is transneutral.
The assigned male at birth (AMAB) equivalent for those who don't want to identify as transmasculine is intramasculine.
