Touch-oscillating is a touch stance that describes an individual whose feelings towards the act or concept of sensual interaction change or fluctuate over time. The term is commonly used asensual spectrum individuals, but is not exclusive to this community or sensuality.
Touch-oscillating individuals may find their feelings regarding sensual interaction changing frequently, potentially several times a day, or infrequently, potentially over the course of years.
Some individuals may feel one way about certain sensual acts, while feeling another way about other sensual acts. The term touch-ambivalent may be used to describe this experience.
Some individuals may be repulsed by the idea of personally engaging in sensual activity, while feeling favorable or indifferent towards sensual interaction that does not involve them or sensual interaction as a concept. The term touch-averse may be used to describe this experience.
History
This term has existed within the asensual community with no clear first coining for many years. The term was recoined for the purpose of providing a concrete source by AnonymousHermitCrab on the subreddit r/asexuality on April 27th, 2022.[1]
