Stigsexual is a sexual modifier in which ones sexual attraction is effected by or limited by social stigma. This could be stigma around gender, sex, sexuality, relationship, identity, race, disorders, disabilities, body type, culture, job, or religion. A stigsexual individual may lose their attraction if they feel them or their partners are being stigmatized. This is likely due to the stress of stigma or due to trauma related to being stigmatized. Because one may feel attraction impossible or difficult from stigma, this identity usually falls under the asexual spectrum.
Some examples include:
- A Christian who is dating a Pagan, however their attraction to their partner fades when they recieve stigma around dating a non-Christian.
- A transgender individual who finds it difficult or impossible to be attracted to others, due to the fact that relationships with trans people are stigmatized.
- A cisgender individual who finds it difficult or impossible to be attracted to cisn't individuals, due to the fact that relationships with trans people are sigmatized.
- A DID system who finds it difficult or impossible to to be attracted to others, due to the fact that systems are stigmatized.
- A person of color who finds it difficult or impossible to be attracted to others, due to the stigma around their race or culture.
