Shadowgay is the umbrella term for shadowlesbian, shadowfloric, and shadowenbian. Includes and trans/nonbinary people who feels semi-connection to a certain label despite dysphoria or not being the gender the label usually pertains to. Being _LW; _LM; _LNB and/or _LX, etc., and feeling attraction to that same/similar gender but not necessarily being that gender or being dysphoric about being considered that gender.[1]
History
The shadow- orientations (shadowlesbian, shadowgay, and shadowfloric) were first coined by Tumblr user ashix0trender0juice on 19 July 2020, with shadowenbian and shadowstraight being coined later. The flags were made around the same time.[2]
A redesign of the shadow- flags were created by Tumblr user thepokedexisgay. The shadowgay redesign was posted 28 February 2021.[3]
