    The sarculin flag

Sarculin is a gender identity that describes individuals who are male or male-aligned, but are aligned with masculinity as well as neutrality. It shouldn't be confused with neuvir, as it isn't exclusively neutral-aligned.

The female/feminine-aligned counterpart to sarculin would be marremin.

    History

Sarculin was coined along with marremin on the Flight Rising forums by user scrybeoftech on Feburary 20th, 2022.[1] Sarculin was specifically coined in order to describe the coiner's own experience with gender, as there were no terms beforehand that described it.

    Etymology

Sarculin is derived from "sarcelle", the French word for teal, and "masculin", a French adjective for male. Sarcelle was chosen because teal is the result from mixing blue and green - the colors associated with masculinity and neutrality respectively - and masculin references the male basis of the gender.

    Flag

The flag was created along with the term by the coiner. The blue and green triangles represent the masculine-aligned and neutral-aligned aspects of the gender respectively and how they link together to make one gender. The white arrows represent inclusivity of demigender/multigender/genderfluid/etc. individuals who may identify with the term in some way, though the shape itself has no meaning and was just used for aesthetic purposes. Both blues in the background represent the male basis of the gender.
