    The Reicioaro flag

Reicioromantic (also spelled as Reicioaromantic and shortened to Reicioaro) is a romantic orientation on the aromantic spectrum which is characterized by limited to no romantic attraction, interest, or activity due to emotional exhaustion from repeated rejection, or from one's "intense fear" of rejection.

Reicioaro is similar to requisromantic and the romance-drained" romantic stance. It may overlap with and be used alongside those identities, but identification with those terms is not needed for one to be reicioaro.

An example of a reicioaro experience would be an aromantic romance-neutral individual who is now Romance-drained due to repeated rejection. Because they now have no interest in romantic activities, they consider themselves reicioaro.[1][2]

    Etymology

The prefix "reicio-" comes directly from the Latin word "reiciō". The literal definition of reiciō is "to throw, fling, or repel", but it can also figuratively mean "to reject".[3]

    Flag

The reicioaro flag was made on October 20th 2023 by Tumblr user isobug. The colors and symbolism of the flag were inspired by the aromantic flag and the requisromantic flag, with each element and color representing certain qualities. The color blue represents exhaustion and rest, the color green represnting aromanticism and one's presence on the aro-spec, while the grey stripe intersecting with the "aro arrow" symbol represents the absence of romantic attraction, interest, or activity.[1][2]

    History

Reicioaro was coined on October 20th 2023 by Tumblr user isobug, along with it's flag and the prefix "reicio-".[1]
