Questian, also called A?, means you do not know your sexuality/romantic orientation due to your place in the ace/aro spectrum.
You might have narrowed down what you’re attraction is, but not fully.
- ~you have to be *either* aro-spec, ace-spec, or both
- ~you do not have to know what your identity is on the aro/ace spectrum, as long as you know that you are part of the aro/ace spectrum and you believe it is affecting your ability to find out your romantic/sexual attraction
- You don't necessarily need to know your identity on the aro/ace spectrum, you only need to know you are on there somewhere and it effects your inability to find your romantic/sexual attraction.
- ~You might have your romantic/sexual attraction narrowed down, but can choose one or the other due to not knowing if you're attracted to certain gender(s) (example: not knowing if you're trixic or trixen becuase you're unsure if you like non-binary people)
- ~You can be questioning and/or quio- in addition to being unknowing
This can be because:
- you haven’t met enough of those gender(s) to know if you like those gender(s)
- you don’t know if you do or don’t understand romantic/sexual attraction
- being demiromantic or demisexual and never having a long enough connection with someone of that/those gender(s) to know if you’re attracted to that/those gender(s)
This is similar to questioning, but you now you're questioning due to being a-spec. You can be questioning and unknowing at the same time.
Subsets
- Expeditian is when they are actively trying to find out what their true romantic/sexual attraction is (expedition is being on a quest to find more knowledge)
- Journian is when they need/want to find what true romantic/sexual attraction is, but understand it might take more time for them, so they don't actively seek it out (journey means to be on a quest where the trip is more important then the destination)
- Wanderian is when you don't need/want to find their true romantic/sexual attraction is (wandering is traveling without destination)
The subsets make it easier to tell how the person feels about their connection to their true romantic/sexual attraction and their being questian. They can identify as a sub-label, but they don't have to.
