Philogynous refers to someone who feels a fondness, love, or admiration towards women. It's not necessarily an attraction to women, it is a feeling of admiration or fondness towards all of womanhood.[1] Simply respecting women does not mean one is philogynous. Being philogynous means one has a certain feeling of love and likeness towards the general idea of women, without necessarily being attracted to them in any way, though this could refer to uncommon forms of attraction such as tertiary or idyllic. The male subset is philandrous.
History
The term Philogyny has been around for a good number of years, and its coining date is unknown.
