Outterphoria

Outterphoria is term for an experience exclusive to system members in which one feels dysphoria, gender dysmorphia, or body dysmorphia when in their innerworld body (or lack thereof). This is because, for a variety of possible reasons, their innerworld body causes them distress, discomfort, and/or self hatred.

This experience often co-sides with inneuphoria, as fronting often causes the individual joy or comfort.

Some examples where this may occur includes, but is not limited to...

• A fictive headmate who has been repeatedly invalidated for being of fictional origin, and thus has distress with their innerworld body because of it.
• A factive headmate who has been repeatedly invalidated for being of someone else's origin, and thus has distress with their innerworld body because of it.
• An headmate that is a ghost, spirit, or is conceptive and feels distress towards the fact that they do not have a body.
• An headmate of color within a white body who experiences distress due to internalized racism.
• An headmate of color within a white body that feels they are 'not a true member of their race' and thus experiences distress.
• An headmate who is a transgender man, however their innerworld does not allow them to undergo medical transition, and thus they feel dysphoria towards their innerworld body.
• An intersex headmate who has internalized intersexism and/or feels as though their intersex variation makes them 'less than' someone who is dyadic, and thus feels discomfort in their innerworld body.

This term was coined by Weniviere from Cryptocrew's system on May 26th of 2021 in order to describe her and her headmates experiences. It was first publicized on May 29th of 2021.
