Opossugender or possumgender is a xenogender in which someone feels an extremely strong connection to opossums, either strongly identifying with them or simply wanting to incorporate them into their gender to better understand their identity.
One who identifies as opossugender may refer to themself as a "possumboy," "possumgirl," "possumenby," or simply opossugender or another combination, depending on their gender identity. It is a faunagender and may also be a kingender.
History
Possumgender was originally coined by JoelyMammoth on Twitter at some point before November 30th, 2020. The post about it has since been deleted[1].
The term opossugender was re-coined from possumgender on the LGBTA wiki by FANDOM user Trashwoof on January 11th, 2021.
Flag
The opossugender flag was made by JoelyMammoth on Twitter, at some point before November 30th, 2020, though they referred to it as possumgender. The post about it has since been deleted. The meaning of the flag is currently unknown and up for speculation.
FANDOM user Zer0Rebel4's alternate opossugender flag was made on Janurary 25th, 2021, and represents the colors of a Virginia Opossum.
Shnzugawa's alternate opossugender flag was made on June 23rd, 2021, and represents the following: Pink is for mischievousness. Blue-grey represents a connection to, and love, for opossums. Off-white represents gender neutrality. Grey represents dumpster diving. Light pink represents staying up late[2].
