Alternative of "FtM" : The problem with the terms FtM and MtF is that it implies that someone was one gender, then transitioned to another, through the choice to make changes to themself physically and/or socially, or that their body is one gender, but their head is another. It's a framing that’s easier to explain, but only because it's still rooted in the concept of binary sex distinctions, which a lot of trans people want to do away with entirely.
