Monoromantic refers to someone who is romantically attracted exclusively to a single gender. Monoromantic refers both to gay individuals and straight individuals, as well as anyone else experiencing sole attraction to a single gender. It is typically used by m-spec people to refer to anyone who is not m-spec (with the exception of suptilic a-specs, who are attracted to zero genders). It is similar to the terms cisgender or alloromantic in that way of being conformant. It is commonly used when talking about monosexism; the prejudice against biromantics and other m-spec identities, such as panromantics, polyromantics, and omniromantics.
The opposite to monoromantic is multiromantic. The sexual counterpart to monoromantic is monosexual.
