Mexangender is a subset of melangender and multigender. It can have multiple definitions, and one may identify with all of these definitions, or a multitude of them. Someone who is mexangender may feel:
- As if they have a prominent gender that is on the xiaspec.
- Like when they do things that society deems as ’xenic,’ their gender is affected. This could range from certain hobbies, to activities, or anything else.
- As if some of their multiple yet static genders are ‘blurred’ or ‘blurry’ in a sense, or even mashed together; however, there is still a distinction between some of their labels, and this distinction is always xiaspec.
- Like their multiple gender labels have been ‘squashed’ together but are still able to distinguish their multiple labels, which is somewhere on the xiaspec.
History
The term was coined by Reddit user u/hiitsyaz on May 5, 2021.
Flag
The flag was created by Reddit user u/hiitsyaz on May 12, 2021. The flag is a mixture of the colors within the flags for the terms which make up melangender, as well as the xenic flag (with a few shade alterations). The purple was added due to purple being a common shade among xenic-aligned genders.
Etymology
The name for mexangender has the same origin of melangender; however, the ‘l’ in melan- has been altered to an ‘x’ to show that this is a xenic-aligned gender.
