Helian is a subset of solarian that describes someone who is man-aligned (or male-aligned, boy-aligned, or guy-aligned) or otherwise has a connection to manhood. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Those who are partially men.
- Those who are connected to manhood without necessarily being a man.
- Someone whose gender experiences are similar to that of a man.
Helian only specifies that one is man-aligned, one does not necessarily have to be masculine-aligned (phoebian) as well.
The female equivalent is selenian.
History
Helian was coined by Tumblr user Neopronouns on February 9, 2021.[1] The term was created because solarian encompasses a wide spectrum of identities, including both male-aligned identities and masculine-aligned identities. Helian was created as a subset of solarian for those who want to further specify that they are man-aligned (and may or may not be masculine-aligned).
Flag
The flag was created at the same time as the term. The flag has no confirmed meaning but is based off the appearance of other galacian alignment flag. It is also red, such that when combined with the phoebian flag (yellow) is would result in the solarian flag (orange). The symbol was added by Tumblr user genderstalgia on February 21, 2021.[2] It was made to look like a sun, similar to solarian. It is also is based on an aureole, which is a symbol for the Greek god Helios.
