    The genderqueer flag.

Genderqueer is a term often used interchangeably with non-binary, meaning a gender that is not does not fall under being strictly under male or female.

Genderqueer can be a gender identity on it's own or can be used as an umbrella term, to describe any non-binary or genderqueer identity.

    Flag

    The first proposed genderqueer flag.

The genderqueer flag was designed by Marilyn Roxie is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. The first design for the flag was posted in June 2010[1], the flag was later changed in September 2010[2].

The flag was changed again in June 2011 giving the final flag. The colors represent the following:

    • lavender - the mixing of blue and pink (traditional male and female colors, also present on the trans flag); meant to represent those under the GQ umbrella who feel they are both male and female in identity, as well as “queerness”, as for example, lavender has been associated with homosexuality and bisexuality
