It may be due to external factors, which can include, but are not limited to:

    • Visiting their unaccepting family and becoming "frozen" in their assigned gender at birth.
    • Having an partner and becoming "solid" in a gender their partner may prefer.
    • PTSD or traumatizing events.

Genderfrozen does not usually refer to an specific gender identity, but rather as a modifier to ones current gender experience or to describe a certain event or occurrence, for example: "My teacher refused to acknowledge that transgender people truly feel the way they do, and I just felt myself becoming gendersolid."

The feeling of being genderfrozen does not have to be a negative experience, it depends on the circumstances under which it occurs and on the feelings of the person experiencing it if it's an uncomfortable or comfortable state.
