Not to be confused with gender spike or sparkgender
Gender spark is a term to describe an unexpected and/or intense change in one's gender. This term was not created to invalidate or alter one's current label, and may be used by any cisn't person to explain ones experience of gender.
*This experience may not effect everyone or anyone in particular. The term has been coined for individuals who feel they want or need to describe an experience with the term*
Some examples of experiences that may be described as a gender spark include:
- Feeling like one particular gender for a longer period of time, or more intensely than usual, if genderfluid
- Identifying as a monogender, then having a sudden experience of a multigender or vise-versa
- Having a masculine identity, but temporarily (and unexpectedly) feeling as though it is feminine or vise-versa
This is not an identity by itself, thus making it different from spikegender, genderspike or otherwise fluid identities. How one might use gender sparks to explain their experience of gender could be as follows:
- "I am genderflux, currently going through a libra spark"
- "I am genderfluid, currently in a male spark" (relating to first point above *)
- "I identify as gender-neutral but sometimes have sparks related to feminine genders"
- "I am a woman-leaning bigender person, but recently I have had a masculine gender spark"
