Gender Creative - or gender expansive- is a term for when one- paticularly, when a child or teenager- rejects gender norms and stereotypical expression.
History
The term 'Gender creative' was first coined by Dr. Diane Ehrensaft, a developmental and clinical psychologist in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Director of Mental Health and founding member of the Child and Adolescent Gender Center. She introduced this term in her book Gender Born, Gender Made. Her second book, The Gender Creative Child, was named after the term she created.
