Vincian is one of multiple proposed identities to be used by homosexual men (men who feel attraction to other men). It also serves as an alternative term for achillean. The term "gay" is often used as an adjective for homosexuality, or the entire LGBT community in general. Although it is closely related to male homosexuality, it is still used to describe many LGBT topics. For this reason, various proposed terms for homosexual men are being coined, including vincian. Others are patroclian, wildean, polarian, and others. Some individuals also argue that "gay" should just mean homosexual men all together, due to the fact that homosexual women are referred to as lesbian.
Etymology
The term vincian was coined in honor of Leonardo da Vinci, who was an Italian polymath of the Renaissance. He was thought to be involved in various homosexual relationships.
