    The centrgender flag.
    Centrgender Symbol

Centrgender, also spelled centergender, is a gender modality that describes someone who feels as though they do not fit into either category of cis or trans.

Centrgender can be used as a specific identity, or as an umbrella term for anyone who isn't cis or trans. Someone could identify as centrgender while also identifying as Absgender, for example. This is an all inclusive term that any person may use as long as they aren't fully cisgender.

A centrgender person does not identify (fully or at all) with their AGAB, and therefore isn’t cisgender, but does not feel a connection to the label transgender. They may even feel as though they fall in the middle of these two.

Centrgender can be modified with terms like: centercis (where one doesn't identify as cis or trans, but feels that cis fits more than trans), and centrtrans (where one doesn't identify as cis or trans, but feels that trans fits more than cis).

    Related Terms

When used as an umbrella term, it would include isogender and absgender.

    Absgender vs Centrgender

Absgender and centrgender are similar terms in that they both describe not being cisgender or transgender, but they are not exactly the same. Absgender means not being cis or trans because one is agender or otherwise genderless individual. Centrgender is for anyone who doesn't fit into the categories of trans or cis. Centr can be used as its own term or an umbrella term. As un umbrella term, centr would include isogender and absgender.

Although these terms are not the same, some centrgender individuals may also identify as absgender, and some absgender individuals may also identify as centrgender.

    Isogender vs Centrgender

Isogender and centrgender are similar terms in that they both describe not being cisgender or transgender, but they are not exactly the same. Isogender is for people who aren't cis or are not fully cis, but trans doesn't seem to fit either. Centrgender is for anyone who doesn't fit into the categories of trans or cis. Centr can be used as its own term or an umbrella term. As un umbrella term, centr would include isogender and absgender.

Although these terms are very similar, they are different terms. However, some centrgender individuals may also identify as isogender, and some isogender individuals may also identify as centrgender.

    History

This term was coined by Rat0Meat on July 28, 2021. They wanted all-inclusive term for being neither cis nor trans. The subsets centrcis and centrtrans were proposed by reddit user u/hiitsyaz two days later.

    Etymology

"Centr" is the latin route for "center", which is why the term can be spelled both ways.
