Biflux is defined as when one is bi-oriented, but whose attraction to various genders is fluctuating or fluid. It can be experienced in three main ways:
- Someone is always attracted to two or more genders, but those genders change over time (for example, someone is attracted to men and women sometimes, to women and non-binary people sometimes, only to non-binary people other times, and so on).
- Someone is bi and has a fluid preference or intensity between those genders, but they are likely always attracted to the same genders.
- Someone is bi, but their orientation is fluid in a way they may sometimes be attracted to no gender or to just one gender. They consider bi their “base orientation”, or a significant and important part of who they are, even if they fluctuate towards asexual or monosexual orientations at times.
