Anthrosexual refers to someone who is attracted to humans and alterhumans regardless of their gender identity/expression. The term avoids referencing a particular sexual orientation or predilection towards a particular gender.[1]
Anthrosexual and pansexual might be used interchangeably. The prefix pan- means "all" and "anthro-" means humanoid, so the word anthrosexual might be considered easier to understand for people who don't know either term.
Another use of anthrosexual could come from someone having a fictosexual or fictoromantic identity as well. (Example: Anthrosexual cartosexual, the attraction to cartoon characters so long as they’re human/alterhuman.) So although anthrosexual alone means attraction to humans and alterhumans regardless of gender, anthrosexual combined with a fictosexual identity may not include all genders. (Example: Lesbian anthrosexual-animatesexual.)
Etymology
Anthro- is an alternative form of anthropo- which comes from Greek and means human, humanoid and human-like.
