Amethystian describes a woman, or feminine-aligned person, who is wlw and wlnb, meaning a woman who is attracted to women and to non-binary people, and/or a woman who prioritizes their attraction to women and non-binary people over other attractions they may have. This attraction need not be exclusive, although it can be. A woman who is amethystian may identify as omnisexual, polysexual, bisexual, sapphic, or another multisexual label. It is unrelated to the gender identity amethystian.

The flag and term were coined by Fandom user @GhostOrchidGynoid on January 6th, 2021. The term and flag were coined to complement the citrinian term and flag, since real-life amethyst and citrine are the same gemstone with different impurities and are often found together.
