Afisgender was coined on July 27th, 2020, by Tumblr user Androidic.
Flags
The afisgender flags were created on September 7th, 2020, by Tumblr user Queerso.[1]
The original afisgender flag is a five striped flag. The outer stripes are mint green, the middle stripes are cyan, and the inner stripe is sky blue. There are three pastel mint circles over the inner stripe, each outlined with the same sky blue.
The simplified afisgender flag is a seven striped flag. The outer stripes are mint green, the outer middle stripes are cyan, the inner middle stripes are sky blue and the inner stripes are pastel mint green. Both the outer and inner middle stripes are thinner than the outer and inner stripes.
Etymology
Afis- comes from the Greek “ασαφής”/“asafís”, meaning hazy.
