    History

Aeregender and its subgenders were originally coined by Tumblr user system-lgbt [1] in 2018. Flags were later created by Tumblr user angel-pride on February 7, 2021. [2]

    Flags

The darker shades of color are what has been distinguished, the lighter is what may be there, both shades of gray are for the unknown, and the colors were picked mostly on associations and less specific meanings.

    Etymology

The term comes from the Latin word quaerere, which means "to ask/search/question".
