    The aemotional flag.

Aemotional, also known as anemotional or nonemotional, is an identity defined by a complete lack of emotional attraction. One who is aemotional would not experience any form of emotional attraction, and would default be aromantic, analterous, aplatonic, and aqueerplatonic.

Aemotional individuals may still engage in activities traditionally defined by emotional attraction, such as going on romantic dates or having emotional relationships.

The opposite of aemotional is alloemotional, where one experiences all forms of emotional attraction. The physical and tertiary attraction counterparts are aphysical and atertiary.

Someone who experiences little, fluctuating, or atypical emotional attraction or someone who only experiences certain types of emotional attraction would be considered on the aemotional spectrum (aemo-spec).

    History

The term was coined by Tumblr user mourningmogaicrew on June 4th, 2021, to help a-spec individuals describe themselves.[1] Similar terms and experiences have been described by a-spec individuals in the past, especially on forums such as AVEN.

    Flag

The flag was created by Tumbr user mourningmogaicrew on June 4th, 2021. The stripes are light pink, magenta, dark pink, and blue to represent the emotional attraction flag. The bottom stripe is black for not experiencing this form of attraction.
