ADHDgender (also known as ADDgender for those having the inattentive presentation) is a neurogender which can only be understood in the context of having ADHD, or when one's ADHD greatly affects one's gender or how one experiences gender. ADHDgender is not ADHD as a gender, but rather is a gender so heavily influenced by ADHD that one's ADHD and one's experience of gender cannot be unlinked. There are many studies showing that ADHDers are more likely to be transgender.[1]
ADHDgender can be a stand alone gender or it can be used in combination with another gender to show that one's experience of that gender is heavily influenced by having ADHD. One's gender can be influenced by one's ADHD in many ways. For example, one's may feel like their gender is hidden behind brain fog. One knows it’s there, but one can’t get to it.
Not all ADHDers identify as ADHDgender, only those whose gender experience is influenced by them being ADHD. ADHDgender is an exclusive gender as, obviously, people without ADHD cannot have a gender influence by ADHD.
ADHDboy
This is much like ADHDgender, except for someone who identifies as a boy or is masc-aligned. ADHDboy is a neurogender and someone who is a boy or is masc-aligned, but feels as if their gender has been influenced by having ADHD, or can only be understood in the context of having ADHD. ADHDboy is not ADHD as a gender related to a boy, but it more feels as if one's gender is heavily influenced by their having ADHD as well as being somehow masc-aligned or connected to manhood. ADHDgirl
ADHDgirl is a neurogender in which one is a woman, or woman-aligned, but still feels as if their gender has some connection to, is heavily influenced by, or only understood in the context of ADHD. The connection can feel as if them having ADHD has influenced their gender to where it is today, or it can feel as if their having ADHD is making their gender more confusing. It can even feel as more of a bigender. However, an ADHDgirl is, yes, influenced by ADHD, but also somehow aligned with or connected to femininity. ADHDgirl is an exclusive gender, as it can only be claimed by people who have ADHD. The two counterparts for ADHDgirl are ADHDgender and ADHDboy.
Flag
The first two ADHDgender flags were coined by unspecified users at unspecified times, with an unknown meaning. The ADHDgirl and ADHDboy flags were coined by Fandom user Stitchy0 on January 2nd, 2021. For ADHDboy, all of the colours have a slight blue tint to represent masculinity, while the design was based off of the alternate ADHDgender flag. Same goes for ADHDgirl, however with a reddish tint, to represent femininity.
