Falleric is a system to describe non-binary gender presentation. It describes non-binary people based on how masculine or feminine they present. This system was not intended for non-binary people who present in gender-neutral or other ways.

The Falleric system was developed to avoid gender dysphoria by not using the terms masculine and feminine, which often carry connotations about one's gender identity and may be triggering.

    Types

    Mascfalleric

    The mascfalleric flag.

A non-binary person who presents/expresses their gender in a way that is traditionally more masculine. Mascfalleric people may pass as male, but not necessarily.

The mascfalleric flag has 4 horizontal stripes of blue-purple, teal, light blue and light green. The blues represent traditional masculinity while the purple and green represent gender neutrality and nonconformity.

    Femfalleric

    The femfalleric flag.

A non-binary person who presents/expresses their gender in a way that is traditionally more feminine. Femfalleric people may pass as female, but not necessarily.

The femfalleric flag has 4 horizontal stripes of purple, pink, light pink and light orange. The pinks represent traditional femininity while the purple and orange represent gender neutrality and nonconformity.

    Etymology

The term “falleric” comes from the latin word ”fallere” (to slip by). One who is masc/femfalleric ‘slips by’ as masculine/feminine.

    History

The terms and flags were created on or before May 17th, 2021 by Tumblr user mourningmogaicrew. The user said the term mascfalleric was created for a friend [1] and that femfalleric was created as its counterpart [2].
