Varioriented aroace (shortened to variaroace) refers to someone who is on both the aromantic and asexual spectrums, but is not strictly aromantic and/or asexual, and has "mismatching" romantic and sexual orientations. For example, someone who is demiromantic asexual, someone who is aromantic fraysexual, or someone who is lithromantic greysexual are all examples of varioriented aroace people, because they are on both the aromantic and asexual spectrums (aroace) and have mismatching orientation labels.
People who do not identify with either a romantic orientation or a sexual orientation, such as non-SAM aros, can also use the term.
History and Flag
The term variorented aroace was coined by Tumblr user Varioriented-pride on April 10, 2019[1]. The flag was created in the same post. The blue stripe comes from the oriented aroace flag, used to represent shared aroace-ness. Grey represents the grey area in romantic and asexual orientations. Light yellow comes from the aromantic allosexual flag. Red comes from the alloromantic asexual flag.
