Transemphasis is a word that refers to those who emphasize transness as a very important part, or the most important part, of their identity. It has ties to concepts such as trans radicalism, anti-assimilationist queerness, and trenderpunk and is based on embracing transness as a concept and state of being. One may identify only as trans, and nothing as, or identify primarily as trans*, more so than as a trans men, trans women, transfem, transmasc, non-binary, etc. It is an identity defined by transness. One may also say that they would always be trans, even if they were assigned a different gender at birth.
