    Talk:Trixic

So months back, I made a slight redesign of one of these flags (specifically the 3-striped one with the flower), to just change the flower.
It looks a bit difficult to reproduce, and me and everyone I've showed it to confused the poppy for a tulip. I took it upon myself then to simplify it and make it more poppy-like, and tried to add a subtle touch of nonbinary symbolism by orienting the flowers' petals diagonally, like an X. I also created these (the flag and standalone flower image) as vector images, so that the flower symbol could be more easily reproduced and reused, and not lose quality at different sizes.
Now, since the flag I based it on was added by a wiki anon and had no source I assumed I could add mine too just like that, but my upload requests were denied, so I suppose I should ask here (and possibly leave this as a documentation of its creation): may I add these to the flags section of the page? Hey Spiral, we don't allow vector images because they cannot be easily printed, shared, or edited. Not everyone has a vector editor/viewer but everyone definitely has a raster editor/viewer. I would prefer a png file to meet the common standard. Jeb_CC, Bureaucrat | (xe/xem/xir) (talk) 07:35, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
Oh, thank you for the clarification! I assumed because the wiki would generate PNG previews of vector images (like this) it would be okay, is that a setting I have to enable when uploading? Or is that SVG not supposed to be here to begin with?
If it is still not allowed, would it be permitted to add a link to their SVG versions somewhere? (Perhaps in a summary like in the page I linked?) Spiral4444 (talk) 15:18, 5 June 2023 (UTC)Spiral4444
I believe that image you linked is an svg throughout and does not show or have any kind of png alternative. Or at least it doesn't on my end! Maybe instead, upload the svg, and then on the file page, 'add a version' and add the png version. That way both versions are stored, but the wiki will prefer to use the png one (as that's the latest reiteration of the file). But the svg one will still be accessible in the file history? That's the best thing I can think of. Jeb_CC, Bureaucrat | (xe/xem/xir) (talk) 07:32, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
I think that is a brilliant idea and works just fine! :) I've resubmitted them both for upload just now and I'll swap them with PNG exports later, thanks for the help! Spiral4444 (talk) 23:05, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
