Some qualities of this gender are the "box" may feel claustrophobic, quiet, or dark, yet not all of these are required for identifying as strictarcagender. While the term refers to a box, it does not have to be a box, and can be any real or fictional location that shares the qualities of a small, quiet location, such as a closet or under a bed.
Etymology
The term was named with the idea of a box in mind. Stricta is the Latin word for tight, while arca is the Latin word for box, making "tight box."

Flag
The flag was coined by Fandom user Alfred0023 upon the same day of the term's creation. The colors used in the flag were chosen mainly to represent a box. The gradual shift from beige to dark gray was used to simulate darkness within the box. Each person whom identifies as strictarcagender is free to alter the colors to fit their personal view of the gender, though it is not required they do so.
