Shinygender is a xenogender that is essentially the same as a particular gender, but it feels like one's experience with that gender is “colored differently” from the majority of others who share their gender or where one experiences a gender very differently from others with that gender. This gender was based off of the concept of shiny Pokémon.

Shiny- can be used as a gender prefix for any gender (such as shinyneutral, shinyqueer, or shinynull).

Similar terms include glittergender and sparklegender.

History

Shinygender was coined by Tumblr user Variant-Archive on December 30th, 2018.^[1]
