Shattervaic is a neurogender that feels as if it is a broken mirror that experiences multiple genders all at one time, which were once a part of a singular gender and were either shattered due to trauma or neurodivergence. This gender may feel shiny and new as if discovering its true self, or dusty and forgotten to time as if broken down.

This gender is neither strictly masculine or strictly feminine, and can be used to express any gender identity. One whose gender identity may have been binary male may call themselves a Shatterboy to signify that their gender used to be masculine in nature, but was lost over time. The feminine and neutral equivalents would be Shattergirl and Shatterbeing, respectively.

The mix of complimentary colours (blue/green, pink/orange) is used to symbolise how the gender was once whole and flowed so that it was complete. The white and greys in between those two lines are used to signify the shattered distance between the two, and how they’ll never be touching (repaired) again.

The shattered effects atop the flag are used to show the significance of the gender acting as if it were a broken mirror, with the white meant to represent how the gender may feel ‘new’, and the black used to show how the gender may feel ‘forgotten’ to its ailments.

    History

Both the label and the flag were created by Discord user prof.mono#7624[1] on 20th September 2022, and later posted publicly by Tumblr user prof-mono[2] on that same day.
