    The reciproflexible flag.
Alternate reciproflexible flag by Tumblr user felix-makes-flags.

Reciproflexible is an a-spec identity where one is typically only attracted to someone once one knows the other individual reciprocates that attraction, but occasionally can experience attraction to an individual who one knows, or assumes, does not reciprocate that attraction. This can be for any form of attraction, such as (but not limited to) sexual attraction, romantic attraction, and platonic attraction.

The type of attraction can be combined with reciproflexible, so, for example, one can be reciprosensualflexible. The gender(s) one is attracted to can also be incorporated into this identity. For instance, if one is attracted to all genders, but gender plays a role in attraction, one could be omnireciproflexible.

    History

FANDOM user ThatAnnoyingDemigirl (now ChaoticAroace) coined this term on July 11th, 2021.

FANDOM user ThatAnnoyingDemigirl (now ChaoticAroace) designed the flag on July 11th, 2021. The section in the middle of the flag is similar to the reciprosexual flag, and the shades of grey on the flag's sides symbolise the flexible nature of this identity.

Tumblr user felix-makes-flags created an alternate flag on December 2nd, 2021. It has no confirmed meaning, although the colors appear to be based on the original flag.[1]

    Etymology

The prefix of this term, recipro-, comes from the beginning of the word reciprocate, and the suffix, -flexible, means that this orientation is flexible.
