Proxysexual is a sexual orientation for those who feel as if they have a strong connection with a sexual orientation, or with the concept of sexual attraction, but do not have the will or the ability to figure that attraction out.
Proxysexual could also be seen as a microlabel of quoisexual, with the main difference being that those identifying as proxysexual still feel like they have an orientation, but they just don't know what it is.
The romantic counterpart is proxyromantic.
History
The term was coined by Discord user Luwuna, also known as Deer Garden System, on June 7, 2021. The flag was created by the same user on the same day.

The pink, blue, and purple lines represent varying attractions to men, women, or non-binary folk, and the grey stripes represent a lack of will or ability to figure out what that attraction is. The stripes are fading to represent varying levels of attraction to those genders.
