Pockygender is a gastrogender related to Pocky, as well as an umbrella term for all genders on the Pocky spectrum of genders. The Pocky spectrum encompasses several different Pocky-related genders with each one relating to a different flavor of Pocky. Pockygender is crunchy, sweet, and creamy as well as playful, and can be aligned with masculinity, femininity or any other form of gender identity.
Subgenders
Strawberry pockygender: A pockygender specifically related to strawberry Pocky. This gender is crunchy, creamy, fruity, and can be overly sweet at times. It may also come off as childish. It has feminine undertones with no specific gender alignment.
Chocolate pockygender: A pockygender specifically related to chocolate Pocky. This gender is crunchy, creamy, and has more of a mellow sweet, feel. It has masculine undertones with no specific gender alignment.
Cookies & cream pockygender: A pockygender specifically related to cookies & cream Pocky. This gender is creamy and has an extra crunch to it. Chocolate pockygender has no specific alignment.
Matcha pockygender: A pockygender specifically related to matcha pocky. This gender is crunchy, creamy, and earthy. It is notably more mellow than other pocky genders. It can be seen as very light and soothing as well. Matcha pockygender has no specific alignment.
History
Pockygender was coined by Tumblr user mogaicoiner on January 12th, 2021[1]. The flag was created on the same day and released in the same post.
Following the pockygender coining, user mogaicoiner also released a flag for strawberry pockygender on January 13th[2], a flag for chocolate pockygender on January 22nd[3], a flag for cookies & cream pockygender on January 26th[4] and a flag for matcha pockygender on February 28th[5], all in 2021.
On August 21st, 2021, FANDOM user ThatRandomSimp214 recoined Pockygender with a slightly altered definition that involved one's gender fluctuating when eating Pocky. The user also designed a new flag to be associated with the new coining.
Flag
Regarding the original Pockygender flag and accompanying subgender flags, the meaning of the colors is unknown. It can be assumed that these colors were chosen due to their relation to Pocky.
Regarding the color meanings of the alternate pockygender flag, the brown colours represent chocolate-flavored Pocky and the pink colours represent strawberry-flavored Pocky, as both of these are very popular Pocky flavors.
