PoMSOGIESEC stands for People of Marginalized Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity & Sex Characteristics. It refers to people in the spectrum of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity & Sex Characteristics who experience social marginalization and discrimination. In other terms, this is an umbrella phrase to refer those who are intersex, have a gender identity that does not match to what was assigned at birth (non-cisgender identities) and those sexual orientations beyond the convention of being attracted to the opposite gender (non-heterosexual sexualities).
History
The term emerged in Nepal in 2019, in replacement of abbreviations like LGBT, LGBTI, LGBTIQ+, etc.[1]
