Philoromantic is the embodiment of “the heart wants what the heart wants” in regards to romantic attraction to gender. Philoromantics do not care what gender they are attracted to, but they may not experience attraction to certain genders, or any gender at all. Philoromantic people are open to the idea of being with any gender or sex, but don’t always feel drawn to anyone of that identity. Unlike omniromantics and panromantics, philoromantics don't have to be attracted to every gender. If they felt attraction to a certain gender, they would be fine with it. That does not mean they are attracted to all genders.
The term philoromantic can be used as a fixed identity, or it can be used as a placeholder for people who are questioning their identity. Once they find a term that fits them better, they may drop the philoromantic label.
The sexual counterpart is philosexual.
