Someone who identifies as philogynous feels fondness, love, or admiration towards women. It's not attraction to women, it is a feeling of admiration or fondness towards all of womenhood, not necessarily being attracted to women themselves. Simply respecting women is not being philogynous. Being philogynous means you have a certain feeling of love and likeness towards the general idea of women, without necessarily being attracted to them in any way.
