Parasexual is defined as a term on the asexual spectrum, used for people who enjoy recreational sex (sex for the purpose of pleasure rather than reproduction, without the commitment of a relationship), despite not experiencing sexual attraction to those involved.
This term is unrelated to Pararomantic.
History of Terminology
Parasexuality is often confused with the parasexual cycle, which is a process specific to fungi and single-celled organisms. The parasexual cycle is a nonsexual mechanism for transferring genetic material without meiosis or the development of sexual structures.[1] Parasexuality may be confused as the attraction to the paranormal.[2]
At some point before August 4, 2016,[3] parasexuality was reclaimed/coined as a genuine ace-spec identity.
